Description
'wonderful, moving, humorous ... extremely poignant' Charlie Mortimer, Dear Lupin 'I've never told my son Michael I love him. Nor do I ever recall hugging him. Instead, I wrote this book. It's one long love letter to him.' Michael Maitland left home for university in 2007. During that time his father, Iain, wrote to him - a bounty of correspondence; letters, emails, notes. Some loving and tender, others angry and caustic and finally, warm and caring as he grew to realise the extent of his son's ill-health, shortly before Michael was hospitalised suffering from depression and anorexia. Dear Michael, Love Dad is the story of a family almost torn apart by love and grief, told through Iain's letters and personal commentary on day-to-day life. It will make you smile and laugh and move you, perhaps even to tears. But, most of all, it will give you hope. This is an uplifting account of the unbreakable bond between a father and son and their family.
