Hadoram Shirihai is a leading expert on field identification. His pioneering work on raptor migration through the key watchpoints of the Middle East has been ongoing for more than twenty years. More recently his research interests have included passerine migration, and the identification and distribution of seabirds; in 2007 Shirihai was responsible for the rediscovery of Beck's Petrel, one of the zoological highlights of the 21st century.
