Description
Quiz Show: Welcome to False!, the quiz show where there are no questions, only statements, where every statement is a lie, and where the prize is nothing less than the truth. Everyone's favourite quizmaster, Daniel Caplin, gives tonight's gifted contestants the chance to play for the ultimate prize - to discover what lies behind the Door of Truth. Newcomer Sandra has always been desperate to find out and she's more than a threat to our reigning champion. Tonight, there is even more to play for. Can the show survive what she discovers? Bullet Catch: The high-risk Bullet Catch has claimed many lives since its conception in 1613. Modern-day marvel William Wonder presents a theatre show with magic, mindreading, levitation and, if you dare stay, the most notorious stunt of them all. A unique theatrical experience exploring the world of magic, featuring mind-reading, levitation, and the most notorious finale in show business. One of Scotland's most exciting theatre-makers, Rob Drummond pushes the boundaries of popular culture in these two unique pieces of theatre.

ReviewsA startlingly deep reflection on the mysterious relationship between performance and despair, the intense life of the stage and the sudden blackness of death. * Scotsman on Bullet Catch * Wonderfully entertaining but emotionally devastating . . . Remarkable, multi-layered and utterly gripping. * Guardian on Bullet Catch * It delicately sits between truth and fiction, playing with the intangibility of magic and human connection. * Stage on Bullet Catch * Gripping psychothriller about truth and perspective from rising star Rob Drummond ... [a] breakneck, ambitious story ... a hugely poignant statement about the very nature of secular truth and how we essentially are no more than what we tell ourselves to believe. -- David Pollock * Independent on Quiz Show * [A] strange and stirring piece of 21st-century theatre ... it is thrilling? to see a first full-length play which works so relentlessly ?and brilliantly on the consciousness of the audience, taking us on a journey - into the immediate past of our society and its possible futures - from which we cannot return unchanged. -- Joyce McMillan * Scotsman on Quiz Show * Very funny ... what Quiz Show does brilliantly ... is give theatrical form to the nightmare of a disturbed mind, one riven by false and repressed memories ... It leaves us uneasy and haunted. -- Mark Fisher * Guardian on Quiz Show * Powerful and spellbinding ... Fun as the veneer is, behind the False's quiz show format is a timely, brave and important play that delves right to the heart of a contemporary tale of celebrity culture and mass denial. -- Thom Dibdin * Stage on Quiz Show * Drummond's dangerously incisive piece plays with pop culture in a way that ultimately damns it. . . When the applause comes at the end of Walsh's final, pulverising soliloquy, it damns us all. -- Neil Cooper * Herald *
