Description
A Year Off is the story of a couple who decided to take a year off from their jobs to travel the world. They weren't escaping from career failure or recovering from terrible relationships or trying to figure out what to do with their lives. But they both wanted to travel - not just take vacations - and they thought that now would be the perfect time to do it. The book follows their journey as they figure out how to travel, where they're going, and joins them on an epic around-the-world adventure as well as the aftermath of reentering their lives at home when the travel ends. Along the way the book includes how-to information for fellow travellers, including advice on everything from packing to budgeting to career management to handling relationships with family and friends before, during, and after the trip.
Author Biography
Alexandra and David Brown are world travellers who find time to travel the world with sacrificing their careers, relationships, or their love for each other. They live in San Francisco with their daughter.
Reviews"Finally budget globetrotters Alexandra and David Brown sack off the 9-to-5 routine to take A Year Off (Chronicle. GBP19), only this time the strangers have each other. They set off having barely been introduced, and share their story and some practical travel tips for those with similarly itchy feet - which you may well have by the end of this book." -- Wanderlust "We loved reading the personal story of the Browns and their travel ups and downs, as well as the hands-on, useful advice for taking a step of this kind - from route planning, how to tell your boss you're leaving and how to cope once it's all over and you're back at home" -- Independent.co.uk
