Description
Shark Feels Shy is a picture book that helps young children discuss their feelings and build positive relationships. It offers a gentle introduction to the emotion of shyness and offers some ways in which to deal with it. In the story, Shark wants to participate in his class's 'Show and Tell' but he feels too shy to come forward. Luckily his teacher has a good idea to help him build confidence. The Emotion Ocean series of picture books for children aged 4 plus are a great way to promote discussion of feelings and emotions, help build positive relationships and boost self-esteem and good behaviour. The series supports the Personal, Social and Emotional Development Area of Learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage, and the RSE curriculum 2020. It is also suitable for use with children in KS1 and can be used to discuss virtues and values. The stories are accompanied by fun and humourous illustrations which really engage young children.
Author Biography
Katie Woolley (Author) Katie Woolley is a creative and versatile editor and writer who has worked on children's books for all age levels, from board books, novelty books and picture books to non-fiction, licensed publishing and educational books and apps. With more than 10 years' publishing experience working for companies such as Ladybird Books and Hachette Children's Books, she has written, commissioned, edited and project-managed a wide variety of titles for some of the biggest children's publishers. David Arumi (Illustrator) David Arumi was born in Barcelona in 1983. His fondness for drawing and art led him to study Art Grafic at Escola Joso in Barcelona. He completed his postgraduate studies on illustration for children's publications and creative illustration at Escola Eina. Soon after he finished his illustration book in 2006, different Spanish publishers began to approach him. Since then, David has been working as a freelance illustrator for several publishers, magazines and advertising agencies. He usually works digitally, drawing and painting directly on the screen with his Wacom Cintiq. He can gladly say that his hobby has become his job and he hopes that it will last forever.
