Most introductions to Buddhism look at the life of the Buddha and the practice of Buddhism in the West today. However, this is rather like publishing a book on the subject of Christianity, but only mentioning Jesus Christ and the Church of England. In this wide-ranging new study, Pascale Engelmajer seeks to relocate Buddhism in its historical and global context. This important new thinking is grounded in the stories of four people who are practising Buddhism around the world in very different ways, and celebrates the diversity of Buddhist thought.
