Author Biography
Steve Brezenoff is the author of more than fifty middle-grade chapter books, including the Field Trip Mysteries series, the Ravens Pass series of thrillers, and the Return to the Titanic series. He's also written three young-adult novels, Guy in Real Life; Brooklyn, Burning; and The Absolute Value of -1. In his spare time, he enjoys video games, cycling, and cooking. Steve lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Beth, and their son and daughter. . Spanish born Marcos Calo began his career working for various Spanish animation studios as a concept artist for CGI movies. During that time he also worked freelance doing illustration, commercial work, and occasionally comic books. Marcos usually works digitally, although he still likes to start his drawings on paper first. After wandering around different cities, he is finally settled in A Coruna, where his collection of comics and picture books is always growing.
Reviews...a light frolic, competently written, with a satisfying plot and decent characters and interest. Certainly worth a try if your young reader likes a realistic setting and a bit of mystery/adventure.-- "NetGalley Review" This book, part of the Field Trip Mysteries series, combines a gentle mystery with lots of facts about Mount Rushmore. . . .Cat and her friends are intrepid sleuths in the way that fictional children sometimes are (see everyone from Encyclopedia Brown to Theodore Boone to the Babysitters Club). . . .A solid pick for school classrooms, school libraries, and public libraries to consider for their collections.-- "Crowding the Book Truck blog" This fast paced, well constructed mystery gives enough red herrings to point to many solutions, giving the reader time to ponder the clues. The plot moves with the dialog, supplemented with full page graphic illustrations. Pertinent quotes fill whole pages and tie together the plot turns.-- "SWON Library Consortium, Ohio" This is the kind of book and series that I would have devoured when I was a kid. The characters complement each other and they're all interesting and likable. . . . Young mystery fans should have a ball with this book.-- "Second Bookshelf on the Right blog"
