Description
Many books have been written on the early years outdoor environment or contain chapters about outdoor learning in the EYFS but none have really connected with practitioners in the way practitioners want them to. Terry has listened to practitioners and written this book, packed full of colour photos, to support the content and to inspire the reader. It supports the key messages on outdoor learning and contains chapters on every aspect of this and more! It will be useful to all those working in the early years as well as managers and head teachers, students and those supporting practitioners. It will enable practitioners to provide improved outdoor experiences for children as well as understanding the importance of these.
Author Biography
Terry was awarded a first class honours degree for teaching children in the 3-11 age range, a diploma in education, and a master's degree in teaching research in the early years. He has experience of working with all the age ranges in the primary sector but has an extensive experience working within the Early Years, including being deputy head teacher of a large 100-place flagship nursery school and deputy head teacher across 10 community nursery centres. Terry has been a teacher representative on the Early Years Development Group at the Manchester Metropolitan University where he has contributed to conferences, seminars and workshops and a range of academic courses. He is an accredited assessor for the Early Years Professional Award and an experienced moderator for the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile.
ReviewsThis is one of those books you fall in love with as soon as you pick it up ... Even if you do not read a single word you will see many do-able, tried and tested ideas from the photos, of how you could improve your learning environment and make greater use of the outdoors, whatever space you have. It is an invaluable resource that will not only inspire, but will support and guide you through making necessary changes. * EYE (Early Years Educator) * BRONZE AWARD * Practical Pre-School Awards *
