Description
Having worked successfully in the early years, and delivered a great number of training courses to early years practitioners, Terry Gould recognised that for many working with young children, the last 10 years have been, and continue to be, a time of change, uncertainty, and sometimes confusion. In listening to these practitioners requesting 'just one book' that they could use to help them with the key aspects of their role he devised this book in the hope that it would go someway to providing much needed support for many. It is based on his own and colleagues experiences as practitioners working in schools and children's centres and as advisory teachers/consultants, working with a variety of settings including schools, private day nurseries and children's centres.
Author Biography
Terry was awarded a first class honours degree for teaching children in the 3-11 age range, a diploma in education, and a master's degree in teaching research in the early years. He has experience of working with all the age ranges within the primary sector but has an extensive range of experience working with children in the Early Years Foundation Stage; including being deputy head teacher of a large 100-place flagship nursery school and deputy head teacher across 10 community nursery centres. Terry has been a teacher representative on the Early Years Development Group at the Manchester Metropolitan University where he has contributed to conferences, seminars and workshops and a range of academic courses. He is an accredited assessor for the Early Years Professional Award and an experienced moderator for the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile. He has worked for a number of local authorities, private training providers and computer software publishing houses as a consultant, trainer and publisher.
