Author Biography
Martin Jenkins is a conservation biologist by trade. He worked for ten years for World Conservation Monitoring Centre, writing about a range of conservation issues, and since 1990 he has worked freelance for organizations such as WWF and a number of UN bodies concerned with conservation and the environment. Martin has written many children's books, including Emperor's Egg, winner of the Times Junior Information Book of the Year Award and Fly Traps! Plants that Bite Back, which was shortlisted for the same award. Martin lives in Cambridge. Jenni Desmond is an illustrator, artist and picture book author, working from a studio in a rattling railway arch in east London. She graduated with distinction from the Masters in Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art (APU). Her first picture book won the Cambridgeshire "Read it Again" Picture Book award 2013. She has also illustrated Joy, written by Yasmeen Ismail and On the Night of the Shooting Star, written by Amy Hest. Visit Jenni's website: www.jennidesmond.com
