Author Biography

Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) was a British writer born in Bombay, India. Although Kipling wrote for both adults and children, it is his younger fiction that has endured. His other works include The Jungle Book (1894), The Second Jungle Book (1895), Kim (1901), and many other short stories and poems. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1907 and is one of Britain's most treasured children's authors. Kayla Stark is a Fine Arts graduate and freelance illustrator based in Nashville, Tennessee. She likes experimenting with different media, including gouache and coloured pencil, as well as incorporating animals and nature into her illustrations. She has worked for various clients, including Highlights Magazine, Sleeping Bear Press and Chronicle.
