Originally published in 1936, this book presents an account of some aspects of the life of the renowned French letter-writer and aristocrat Marie de Rabutin-Chantal, marquise de Sevigne (1626-96). The text was written by the Cambridge literary critic Arthur Augustus Tilley (1851-1942) and is divided into four chapters: 'Mme de Sevigne and the news'; 'Mme de Sevigne and her friends'; 'Mme de Sevigne at Livry and Les Rochers'; 'Mme de Sevigne and her books'.
