Description

In this three-book compilation, follow three men from different walks of life as they set out West and explore swaths of uncharted land. Visit the American frontier with them as they learn to homestead, co-exist with Indians, and move past the horrors of the American Civil War to start their lives anew. Half-Pawnee Jimmy Tall Tree faces many trials not only because of his half-breed status, but because of the dangers involved in running stage stations with his father and uncles. These dangers plague Jimmy and his family as they attempt to make an honest living in a country riddled with war deserters and criminals. Joshua Carter is in the wrong place at the wrong time. He sets out West with his older brother, who's just been discharged from the army, in hopes of starting a new life. Instead, he finds himself accused of train robbery and murder.David Bentson is an army major whose wounds render him no longer fit for duty. He, along with a pair of fellow discharged soldiers, embark up on a journey West. Along the way they pick up several other travelers and eventually end up in Wyoming, where he joins the U.S. Marshal service and finds himself charged with saving young girls from being kidnapped by Indians. These tales are classic Lazslo Endrody and will catapult readers right into the American West in the nineteenth century.

Author Biography

Born in Hungary before the war, Lazslo Endrody came to the United States in 1947 and settled in Ohio with an uncle. He enlisted in the army the moment he was old enough and was soon fighting in Korea while studying for, and eventually obtaining, U.S. citizenship. After becoming a sergeant first class and then a captain, he sailed to various ports in the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Siam. He became a pilot in the Panama Canal before returning to the sea, where he worked six months on, six months off. He raised horses, cattle and sheep on a ranch in Utah, which his mother managed while he was away. It was while he worked as a captain that he discovered his love for writing, and set most of his stories in and around the U.S. Civil War.He is the author of 28 books.
