Description

Andrew is a small dog who likes a quiet life with lots of time for sleeping and mango to eat. His mate David tells him he needs to toughen up, but Andrew's not so sure. When they go on holiday with the family to the wild Wairarapa coast, Andrew has no choice. David introduces him to spiny crayfish and giant eels, and he has to scare off fierce seals and fight for his life in rough seas. And then when a big black dog threatens the people he loves, Andrew discovers he can be tough after all, not just for himself, but for his mates too.

Author Biography

Anne Manchester (pictured here with her son David, and Andrew) lives beside the sea in Eastbourne. She crosses Wellington Harbour on the ferry to work as co-editor of Kai Tiaki Nursing New Zealand, and has worked as editor on two other books - Eastbourne: an anthology, and Natural Zoo, a collection of poems by Andrew's poppa, Colin Webster-Watson. Anne also tramps the hills of Wellington and is an actor with the Butterfly Creek Theatre Troupe, playing roles such as the windblown spirit Ariel in Shakespeare's The Tempest and the gravedigger in Hamlet. She is enjoying being a grandmother, and writing for children.
