Description
The essential, cut-to-the-chase handbook for hiking and backpacking the PCT If you want bare-bones information about the 2,663-mile Pacific Crest Trail without all the long, detailed descriptions, the Pacific Crest Trail Data Book is exactly what you're looking for. Based on data from the three comprehensive Wilderness Press guidebooks to the PCT, this book is filled with convenient, easy-to-read, at-a-glance charts. Compact and lightweight, with trail-tested features, it's handy both on and off the trail. Use it for pre-trip planning for resupply stops; setting daily on-the-trail mileage goals by anticipating campsites, water sources, trail gradient, and facilities; and easily calculating distances between any two points on the trail. Whether you're north- or south-bound, whether you're hiking the entire PCT or just sections of it, the first step of your journey begins with this book.
Author Biography
Benedict "Gentle Ben" Go thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 1996. To this day, memories of that life continue to make him smile. The sweet innocence of the unknown, the lessons still to be learned. He started on the PCT not fully knowing what to expect. It was the most challenging journey he had ever attempted. Since that time, Gentle Ben has been committed to updating the essential pocket guide to the trail. All of his book royalties are donated to the Pacific Crest Trail Association's Jane and Flicka Endowment Fund, which helps to fund trail maintenance and promote trail use.
