Description

Team development is a process, not a program. There is always room for improvement, and in today's competitive marketplace, if you don't continue to improve, you won't survive. Going beyond either the trendy fads or philosophical approaches outlined in most current management literature, Tools for Team Excellence provides a candid look at team based management and a host of hands-on techniques for building, assessing, and improving team performance. Exercises and worksheets, questionnaires and assessment techniques, problem-solving guidelines and troubleshooting tips make this book immediately practical and valuable to team members, managers, consultants, and leaders. Drawn from the author's direct experience in over thirty years of working with teams, Tools for Team Excellence describes and elaborates on seven key components for creating effective teams. It shows how to address each of these key components, ensuring effective teams that will contribute to the success of an organization.

Reviews

Huszczo has a remarkable gift for telling the truth clearly and compassionately about the challenges that labor and management face when they try to organize into teams. His descriptions ought to inoculate intrepid innovators from the rigors they face, while the practical tools and exercises he presents should ensure that no one has to reinvent the wheel. -- Maureen Sheahan, Director, UAWRegion 1A, IPS Labor-Management Council As a human resource group we had been through every kind of training: You name it, we did it. Of all, only one program endured: Huszczo's team-building training. Years later, staff were still referring to his seven components of successful teams. It's not just a quick fix, but a strategy to building long-term superior performance with teams. -- Penny Sharples, Manager, Training and Education, Victorian Administration, Australia Post
