Description
Published in association with the Dunedin Public Art Gallery for their major Jeffrey Harris retrospective, this lavishly illustrated book will confirm Jeffrey Harris's place in the front rank of living New Zealand painters. This book is a unique journey through the extraordinary career of Dunedin painter Jeffrey Harris. It, and the exhibition it accompanies, highlight major themes and charged episodes from Harris's three decades of art-making, reaching from razor-sharp etchings to jewel-like icons, from sumptuous triptychs to a group of unflinching recent self-portraits.
Author Biography
Justin Paton is New Zealand's leading contemporary art critic and has served as curator at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. He is the editor of Anne Noble: States of Grace and the journal Landfall.
ReviewsThe book provides a razor-sharp insight into Harris' ways of working and thinking and making art, which is impossible to ignore. Lavish full-page reproductions of works make it irresistible. -Art News New Zealand
