Accompanying an exhibition at Gagosian New York, this catalogue explores nine of Tom Wesselmann's monumental works made between 1967 and 1981. It marks the first time that the complete series of Standing Still Lifes has been exhibited. Wesselmann was one of the leading American Pop artists, perhaps best know for his Great American Nude series. This attractive volume is offered with a choice of two covers, both on acetate printed in dazzling colour. Insightful new text surveys past art movements in relation to the importance of Wesselmann's Standing Still Lifes. Beautifully illustrated with over 70 colour images documenting the works in the exhibition and introducing the reader to Wesselmann's creative process, highlighting maquettes and preparatory drawings meticulously constructed by the artist, along with much of the source material that inspired the work.
