An introductory guide to home educating for parents considering or involved in home education. This title: aims to help parents decide if home education will work for their family; provides information on the first steps to home education and answers parents' most common questions; provides guidance as to subjects and curriculum, methods of teaching and how to deal with special circumstances; acts as a parenting guide to parents with children in school to help support their children's learning outside of school; and helps more experienced home educators refine their own approaches to their children's learning.
Author Biography
Dr Alan Thomas is Visiting Fellow at IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society, University College London, UK. He is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society. Jane Lowe is one of the founders of the Home Eduction Advisory Service, a large national organisation, which provides a newsletter and advice to parents, teachers and even LEA's on home educating.
