Author Biography

Theodore C. Blegen was superintendent of the Minnesota Historical Society and, for many years, a professor of history at the University of Minnesota. His other books include: Minnesota: A History of the State, Minnesota: A Guide to Reading and Study, Grass Roots History, Norwegian Emigrant Songs and Ballads, and Land of Their Choice: The Immigrants Write Home, all published by the University of Minnesota Press. Gunnar J. Malmin was a professor and Director of Music at Pacific Lutheran College.
