Description
Written by journalist and former-18-handicap golfer Josh Karp, "Straight Down the Middle" is a humorous and insightful record of Karp's quest to achieve inner peace and improve his golf game through the art of Zen, with the help of a who's who roster of Zen golf teachers and practitioners.
Author Biography
Karp first played golf in 6th grade and went on to become one of the worst players on very bad teams at both his high school and college. Somewhere in his early 20s his handicap hit eighteen and remained there until he went to work on this book. Karp has taught journalism at Columbia College, Loyola University, DePaul University and Northwestern, where he is currently an adjunct professor and teaches graduate magazine writing classes. His first book, 'A Futile and Stupid Gesture: How Doug Kenney and National Lampoon Changed Comedy Forever,' won best biography at both the Independent Publisher Book Awards and the Midwest Book Awards.
