Description
Who better than Buffy and co. to teach us how to slay our personal demons? Buffy and her fellow babes -Willow, Cordelia, Anya and more -- have much to offer in terms of savvy insights, observations and life lessons. SLAY LIKE A GIRL looks at female paradigms as presented in Buffy and so much more. Chapters include: Teacher's Pet: On school, learning, knowledge. Passion: On love, sex, and romance in the Buffyverse. "Men are monsters" and other myths. Lies My Parents Told Me: On family - blood and found. What's My Line?: Work, professionalism and the work-life balance. Beauty and the Beast: Fashion, fitness and looking and feeling your best - by yourself, for yourself. (Smash the patriarchy - and the male gaze!) Bad Girls: On authority, agency, feminist power, and rebellion in the BUFFYVERSE. Also featuring photos from the show, favourite quotes, a "Which Badass Babe Are You?" quiz, and fresh input from modern Ladies Who Slay, SLAY LIKE A GIRL will be an indispensable handbook for fans, feminists and all other fierce folk.
Author Biography
Micol Ostow has worked in the world of licensed publishing for many years. In addition to overseeing publication of countless Buffy novels and guides, she's contributed essays to various Buffy anthologies and collections, been quoted in academic texts, and edited The Quotable Slayer. Her most recent media projects include the bestselling Mean Girls: A Novel, and the forthcoming Riverdale prequel: The Day Before. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY, and while she pretends to be a Willow, she's probably more of a Cordelia than she cares to admit.
