Fun and frustration; peace and panic; excitement and exhaustion; feasting and fattening; spending and spending and spending. But then Christmas arrives. The panic is over. We are left with wonder and joy. Children's faces light up, excitement is in the air. Yet because of the rush we find it hard just to stop and think. After all, why do we follow these customs? Where did they all come from? Isn't it strange that, just because we are born into a world of customs, we grow up accepting them? What's it all about?
