BAGHDAD. Journalist Luca Terracini is living outside the wire and investigating a series of deadly million-dollar bank robberies. But he's about to make some powerful enemies who seek to bury secrets and manipulate the truth, regardless of the cost. LONDON. A thousand miles away, ex-cop Vincent Ruiz rescues a young woman, Holly Knight, from a violent boyfriend - but wakes next morning to find she's robbed him. It was an elaborate scam. Furious at himself, and at her, he sets off to find Holly. Set in the turbulent aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis, THE WRECKAGE is a compulsively gripping political thriller from world-renowned author Michael Robotham.
Author Biography
Before becoming a novelist, Michael Robotham was a former feature writer and investigative reporter working in Britain, Australia and America, and with clinical and forensic psychologists as they helped police investigate complex, psychologically driven crimes. His debut thriller, The Suspect, introduced clinical psychologist Joe O'Loughlin and sold more than a million copies around the world. The first of a nine-book series, The Suspect is being adapted for the screen by World Productions (makers of Line of Duty and Bodyguard), starring Aidan Turner. Michael's standalone thriller The Secrets She Keeps was adapted for TV by Network 10 and the BBC. The second series is out now. Michael is the only Australian to twice win the UK's prestigious Gold Dagger Award for best crime novel, for Life or Death and Good Girl, Bad Girl as well as the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger for When She Was Good. His latest Book, Lying Beside You, is the third book in his bestselling Cyrus Haven and Evie Cormac series. Michael lives in Sydney.
ReviewsA masterpiece of commercial crime writing, an entertaining global political thriller that sacrifices none of Robotham's complex, detailed sense of place and character ... as always, Robotham assimilates his plot strands so skilfully that the weight and texture of social interaction becomes almost palpable as they start to intertwine and sometimes violently collide. He cuts effortlessly between a sordid, almost Dickensian London and a violent Baghdad ... He is simply brilliant at the complexities, convolutions and stunning surprises of plot. - WEEKEND AUSTRALIAN This is a stellar effort by Robotham. His plotting is always strong, but this time in tying his crime plot to controversial international concerns he gives the story extra depth and interest ... another impressive step forward by the already outstanding Robotham. Highly recommended. - CANBERRA TIMES A writer of the highest class who can create terror from the commonplace and crush the breath out of you - DAILY MAIL Robotham is an absolute master - STEPHEN KING Michael Robotham is an extraordinary writer. He puts you directly in every scene. You smell the bomb residue. You feel the dread as another corner is turned ... Robotham has raised the bar to another level. - DAVID BALDACCI
