Author Biography

Allan has undertaken many professions in his time, including a customs clerk, air traffic officer, solicitor's clerk, gardener, barman, nurseryman, storeman, plumber's labourer, charter pilot, shearer's cook, roustabout and park ranger. These days Allan Nixon is better known as the Uteman and storyteller for his bestselling Beaut Ute and Bushies titles (Penguin). Allan has toured the country in his Ute finding materials for his books. He was recently an ambassador for The Year of the Outback in 2006. In this capacity he made presentations to the President and Committee of the Deniliquin Ute Muster and the Mayor and Council of Broken Hill for their contributions to the Year of the Outback 2006 program of events.
