Description

This is not an invective against the Church, but a deeply felt argument on behalf of the many Catholics who now feel disenfranchised. It encourages those holding on to a faith they love (often with gritted teeth) to keep going, and offers a concept of Catholicism through which they can still find deep meaning and stay connected to their Church.

Author Biography

Born in Melbourne in 1940, Paul Collins is a historian, broadcaster and writer. In March 2001 he resigned from the priestly ministry of the Catholic Church after 33 years, owing to a dispute with the Vatican's Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith over his book Papal Power. For many years Paul Collins has worked in different capacities in television and radio with the ABC. The author of eight books, he is well known as a commentator on the papacy and also has a strong interest in environmental and population issues. His book God's Earth was made into a major television documentary by the ABC.
