Inside New York: Discovering the Classic Interiors of New York
Paperback / softback
Main Details
Description
New York's architecture contributes to the city's unique excitement. Whilst many are familiar with the city's energetic facades and canyon-like streets, fewer are familiar with its interior architecture and design. This book sets out to reveal the work of artists, designers and craftsmen who have created its interiors. The work ranges from the grand illusions of muralists, to the pomp of Grecian columns or the streamlined detailing of Art Deco lobbies. Both the familiar and the unusual are presented, from the most spectacular, innovative skyscrapers, like the Chrysler Buildings, and shops such as the Steinway Showroom and Broadway Barbershop, to more intimate domestic interiors and pubs like McSorley's Old Ale House. Comprehensive information on buildings open to the public is included.
