Description
This book is composed of a series of self-contained pieces that cover topics such as gender and disease, including the sexual differences in suseptibility to diseases and sex-linked genetic disorders. A piece on the institutional attitudes to female patients, pieces on the dangers of sexual activity, medical attitudes to the womb, breast cancer and how women deal with their fertility when they don't want to become pregnant and how they are treated by the medical profession when they do have children are all issues which are covered.
Author Biography
Germaine Greer was born in Melbourne and attended university there and in Sydney and Cambridge. She now divides her time between her property in Queensland and the UK, where she holds an emeritus professorship in literature at the University of Warwick. Her seminal 1970 work The Female Eunuch established her international reputation, and her subsequent publications include The Obstacle Race, Sex and Destiny, Daddy We Hardly Knew You, The Change, Shakespeare's Wife and The Whole Woman. Greer also writes prolifically for newspapers and journals.
