Description
Now, to pry into roots, to finger slime, To stare big-eyed Narcissus, into some spring, Is beneath all adult dignity. I rhyme, To see myself, to set the darkness echoing. Death of a Naturalist marks the auspicious outset of an acclaimed master. As a first book of poems, it is remarkable for its accurate perceptions and its rich linguistic gifts.
