Description
The first major retelling of Greek mythology in half a century; a set of lively, passionate and dramatic versions of the great myths. Most of us would like to know the Greek myths better than we do. In bold, sensuous prose, Nigel Spivey tells of Zeus and Prometheus, Demeter and Persephone, and how the world began; of Herakles, Perseus and Theseus, of Jason and the Argonauts, of the Trojan War and the travels of Odysseus, of the tragedy of Oedipus and Orpheus in the Underworld. In his hands, these ancient stories are revealed anew as indestructible tales of love and strife, of secret compacts and open rivalries, or bravery and enchantment. A vigorous revision of the classics that is likely to become a classic in its own right.
Author Biography
