The Regulation of International Financial Markets: Perspectives for Reform

International financial relations have become increasingly important for the development of both global and national economies. These relations are at present primarily governed by market forces with little regulatory interference at the international level. But is this absence of regulation wise? Collaborators to this volume consider various options for reform, providing relevant background; in addition, a comparative approach to national attempts for regulating international financial markets is taken. Consideration is given to relevant institutions such as the European Central Bank, the Basel Committee, the IMF and the World Bank. The book concludes with policy considerations for reform. This will be of interest to scholars of comparative public law, economic law and public international law, as well as economists involved with constitutional economics and political scientists involved with regmine theory and constitutionalisation).
