Description

This is the ultimate account of the discovery and excavation of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings. It covers the rediscovery of the tombs, from Classical times until today, as well as detailing the burials and mummies of the great pharaohs, including Tutankhamun and Ramesses the Great. The latest findings, including the spectacular new excavation of the tomb for the sons of Ramesses the Great are accompanied by fact-files, lists of contents, and specially-commissioned cutaway views while the planning, ritual purposes and decoration of the tombs, are explored alongside photographs of scenes from the mysterious afterlife books. The book also includes a map of the Valley, details of what to see and where to see it plus a chronology, making this an essential source-book as well as a fascinating narrative.
