The book is non-fiction, and describes a quest to eat at every one of the 55 food joints along Lincoln Rd in west Auckland, including McDonald's, Burger King, KFC and other fast food outlets. The author is the heroic figure of the title - The Man Who Ate Lincoln Rd - and the book follows his progress.

Steve Braunias is an author and journalist. He works at the NZ Herald and is also the books editor of the Spinoff. His nine books have been published by Random House, Awa Press, Harper Collins, and his own imprint, Luncheon Sausage Books. He was born in Mt Maunganui in 1960 and lives in Te Atatu, Auckland, with Emily Simpson and their daughter Minka Braunias.
