State Highway 6 spans the length of the South Island, some 1,064 kilometers, encompassing a hugely varied and stunning terrain. Its central portion runs through such spectacular landscape, that it has been given the status of World Heritage Highway. It also passes through, or is close to nine of the ten National Parks on the mainland. Seven of these are featured in the book. This is not intended as a guidebook. It is Roger's personal visual interpretation of his journey - the people, the heritage, and the landscape, which shape and dominate the culture of this country.
