Adopting a holistic approach to the design of structures this book addresses the dynamic behaviour of a variety of structures under loading actions, such as wind storms and earthquakes. The position of codes of practice and their relation to a full design study is also discussed. The chapter on damping presents the most up-to-date thinking on the underlying theory, and sets out predictive equations for several different types of structure.
