The recent increase in multi-national developers and professional services specialising in operating throughout Europe make this is an important reference book both now and post 1992. It gives a clear introduction to the industrial property market in Europe and provides the information needed to understand each country's systems. The functioning of the markets is explained and the planning structures in which they operate discussed. The editors are both lecturers in Town and Country Planning at Newcastle University, which has played a central role in developing a European Consortium of Property Professionals and Academic Institutions whose objective is to promote trans-national training and research in property development and spatial planning. The contributors have been selected on the basis of their deep local knowledge of planning and property systems in their own country and their European perspective. There is a growing need amongst surveyors, planners, property developers and architects for the real estate planning text taking a whole-hearted European, as opposed to a national, perspective.
