Description
Where do we come from? Where are we going? These are fundamental questions, which the human race has asked itself for centuries. Presenting a brief and accessible overview of contemporary scientific thought, Creation is an imaginative and poetic exploration of the origins of the universe. WIllem Drees assesses the religious and philosophical impact of scientific theories of evolution and the natural world, and examines the changing relationship between us and our planet.
Author Biography
Willem B. Drees is a physicist, theologian and philosopher. Executive Director of ALLEA, the Association of ALL European Academies, he is Nicolette Bruining Professor of Philosophy of Nature and Technology at Twente University in the Netherlands.
Reviews"this is a wonderful book by one of the leading scholars of the relationship between science and religion. In lucid prose, Drees tackles the "epic of evolution," throwing light on the main events as well as unexpected corridors and byways. He is always serious but never ponderous, and takes the reader from beginning to end on an unforgettable journey, teaching, explaining, and leaving ideas and thoughts buzzing in one's mind. Highly recommended!." -Michael Ruse, Florida State University. "Dressed composed an evolution-creation narrative that serves as the basis for this thin volume. In the book Drees ruminates on the scientific and religious ramifications of this updated creation story." -"Science & Theology News, 01/2005
