An overview of the work of the inspection and advisory services as they relate to the LEAs and other involved parties such as the DfEE, OFSTED, schools and governing bodies. The authors provide models of good practice, guidance for raising standards in schools and strategies for tackling problem areas. The issues of most concern to those professionals responsible for making sure schools improve are examined.
