Description
A young woman watches a relationship race from start to finish almost entirely via text message. An overweight woman in a sexless marriage wrestles with the rules of desire and lust. A man shares the woman he loves with both her husband and another boyfriend. A suburban father struggles to tame his wild teenager. A divorcee in her seventies looks back at the beauty and rubble of past relationships. These are just a few of the people whose stories are included in MODERN LOVE- REVISED AND UPDATED, a collection of the most memorable essays to run in the New York Times weekly "Modern Love" column. Some of the stories are alien, some are all too familiar; some are based in love and some on lust. But they are all, above everything else, timeless. First published over ten years ago, "Modern Love" remains as relevant as ever, and this revised and updated collection will include a selection of new stories, as well as all eight that will be featured in the new Amazon TV series. Together, they tell the larger story of how relationships develop, endure, and fail. Edited by longtime "Modern Love" editor Daniel Jones and including contributors such Larry Smith, Ayelet Waldman, and Veronica Chambers, this is the perfect book for fans both old and new, for lovers and losers alike, and anyone interested in the endlessly complicated workings of the heart.
