Author Biography
Margaret Wise Brown(1910-1952), best known as the author ofGoodnight Moon,wrote countless children's books inspired by her belief that the very young are fascinated by the simple pleasures of the world around them. Among her many bestselling books are The Little Island,The Golden Egg Book, The Color Kittens, andThe Sailor Dog. Alice Provensenand her husband, Martin, have illustrated more than 50 fabulous books for children, including A Visit to William Blake's Inn, Our Animal Friends at Maple Hill Farm, and numerous Little Golden Books including The Color Kittens and Katie the Kitten. They won the Caldecott Medal for The Glorious Fight in 1984. She lives in San Clemente, California. Martin Provensen(1916-1987) and his wife, Alice, have illustrated more than 50 books for children, including An Owl and Three Pussycats, The Year at Maple Hill Farm, and numerous Little Golden Books including The Color Kittens and Katie the Kitten. In 1984, they won the Caldecott Medal for The Glorious Fight, which they wrote and illustrated together.
