Description
This volume of Benn's diaries covers the event for which he is probably most famous - the renunciation of his peerage - as well as revealing the beginnings of his career, touching on his schooldays, RAF service during the war, and early involvement with politics. As a young man, he had dealings with Attlee, Bevan, Morrison, Gaitskell and all the other major politicians of the post-war Labour government. More personal than previously published volumes of Benn's diaries, this one draws upon letters and other documents, as well as the diaries themselves.
