At age five, Deborah Heiligman checked out her first library book-What Is a Butterfly-and her love of science and nature has grown ever since. She is also the author of the middle grade biography Charles and Emma, which was a National Book Award finalist and a Michael L. Printz Honor Book. Ms. Heiligman lives in New York City with her husband and two sons.
