Description

This book presents an analysis of issues of nuclear ethics and a coherent position between the black and white extremes of nuclear advocacy and nuclear abolition. Joseph Nye, both a trained ethicist and researcher on nuclear strategy, argues that the strategy of deterrence must remain conditional. Outline a "just-defence doctrine" for the nuclear age, Nye provides a sensitive moral compass for policy choices and offers a sense of hope for the future.
