Description
One boy is determined to stay in his bed in this hilarious story from Dr. Seuss! It's time to get up, but one boy has decided he'll stay in bed today. And he won't change his mind - not even when his neighbours shout and a big brass band plays outside, nor when he's offered a scrumptious pineapple butterscotch ding dang doo! It seems nothing will get this child out of bed today. . . By combining the funniest stories, craziest creatures and zaniest pictures with his unique blend of rhyme, rhythm and repetition, Dr. Seuss makes reading fun!
Author Biography
Theodor Seuss Geisel - better known to millions of his fans as Dr. Seuss - was born the son of a brewer and park superintendent in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1904. After studying at Dartmouth College, in New Hampshire, and later at Oxford University in England (where he met his first wife Helen Palmer), he became a magazine humorist and cartoonist, and an advertising man. He soon turned his many talents to writing children`s books, and his first book 'And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street' was published in 1937. His greatest claim to fame was the one and only 'The Cat in the Hat', published in 1957, the first of a hugely successful range of early learning books collectively known as Beginner Books. In all Dr. Seuss wrote more than 40 children's books during a career that spanned over 50 years, picking up numerous awards, including two Emmy awards for television and a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation along the way. James Stevenson is an op-ed contributor to the New York Times. His popular column, "Lost and Found New York," has appeared regularly in the newspaper since 2003. He was on the staff of The New Yorker for more than three decades; his work includes 2,000 cartoons and 80 covers, as well as reporting and fiction. He is also the author and illustrator of over 100 children's books. He lives in Connecticut.
