Description

WINNER OF CHILDREN'S BOOK OF THE YEAR, IRISH BOOK AWARDS An extraordinary collaboration between Irish Children's Laureate, Eoin Colfer, and picture book superstar, Oliver Jeffers! Sometimes, with a little electricity, or luck, or even magic, an imaginary friend might appear when you need one. An imaginary friend like Fred... Fred floated like a feather in the wind until a lonely little boy wished for him and found a friendship like no other. The perfect chemistry between Eoin Colfer's text and Oliver Jeffer's artwork make for a dazzlingly original colour gift book.

Author Biography

Eoin was born in Wexford, a picturesque coastal town in the southeast corner of Ireland. Attending the primary school where his father taught, Eoin first developed his interest in writing and began his life long habit of writing his own stories complete with illustrations. He qualified as a primary teacher in 1986. He began teaching in a local primary school by day but continued to write at night. Eoin rapidly became involved in the local amateur drama group starring in, directing and later writing many award winning productions. His monster best seller Artemis Fowl was published in 2001. Oliver Jeffers graduated from The University of Ulster in 2001 with First Class honours. His outstanding talent has been recognised by several high-profile awards, including the Nestle Children's Book Prize Gold Award. 'Lost and Found' animation was broadcast on Channel 4. Oliver lives and works in Brookyln, New York.

Reviews

"The first collaboration from two children's books superstars (it also marks Colfer's picture book debut) is a quirky and comical delight, bursting with warmth and wit." Bookseller "Jeffers's spidery vignettes are perfectly synced to Colfer's bubbly, confiding narrative." Publishers Weekly [USA]
